Is your preschooler, kindergartner, or first grader struggling to read? Are you concerned that he or she may have a reading disability? Are unsure of whether or not to pursue outside testing or additional reading instruction for your child? Are you running out of strategies to try at home?
Join Natalie Hoover, Licensed Dyslexia Therapist, and Katie Pursell, Certified Academic Language Practitioner, for a day of interactive teaching and learning. Families will learn some of the early indicators of a possible reading disability as well as the characteristics of dyslexia. Families will then pair off in groups of two with instructors and learn hands on strategies to use with their child at home and after school. Each parent will have a chance to practice teaching the strategy with another parent while the instructors observe. Our goal is for families to leave feeling equipped in knowing the steps to take for their struggling reader.
