Empowering Your Child’s Learning Journey Through Early Intervention and Specialized Testing

Understanding the Power of Early Intervention

When children are learning to read, write, or process information, some may find it more challenging than others. At Hoover, our mission is simple: to identify those challenges early and provide the tools and support children need to thrive in their learning experiences.

Early intervention with dyslexia is the key to unlocking lifelong learning success. When learning differences are recognized early, children can receive targeted instruction that meets their individual needs. This not only prevents frustration but also builds confidence, resilience, and skills that last a lifetime.

Comprehensive Dyslexia Testing Tailored to Each Child

No two learners are the same, which is why our certified specialists use a range of assessments to understand exactly how your child learns best. These assessments are designed to paint a complete picture of your child’s strengths, challenges, and learning profile, not just their test scores. Here is an overview of the dyslexia assessments provided by Hoover Learning Group:

ICE (Initial Comprehensive Evaluation)

Our baseline evaluation, administered to most students, helps us design a personalized therapy plan.

  • Includes: TOD Screener and selected subtests from either the TOD-E or TOD-C (based on age)

  • Focus Areas: Reading and spelling, linguistic processing, vocabulary, and reasoning

  • Time: Approximately 2 hours, including a parent consultation to review results and next steps

TOD-E (Test of Dyslexia – Early)

A comprehensive, individually administered assessment for Kindergarten–1st Grade students suspected to have dyslexia.

  • Includes: 9 subtests that assess reading, spelling, linguistic processing, and reasoning

  • Outcome: A detailed written report with recommendations and next-step strategies

  • Time: Approximately 2.5–3 hours, including a parent consultation  with the assessor

TOD-C (Test of Dyslexia – Comprehensive)

Designed for 2nd grade through adulthood, this in-depth evaluation helps identify dyslexia-related learning patterns.

  • Includes: 23 subtests that explore reading, spelling, linguistic processing, and reasoning

  • Outcome: A full written report with individualized intervention strategies and a review meeting with the assessor

  • Time: Approximately 4 hours

Why Certified Academic Language Therapists Make the Difference

Our team of Certified Academic Language Therapists (CALTs) combines expertise, empathy, and evidence-based instruction to create a supportive environment for every learner. With a deep understanding of how the brain acquires and processes language, our CALTs help bridge the gap between where your child is today and where they can be tomorrow.

By identifying learning differences early and providing specialized support, we help children develop the literacy and cognitive skills they need not only to succeed in school, but to flourish throughout their lives.
