Certified Academic Language Therapy Training

Over the course of two years, a Qualified Instructor (QI) will effectively instruct and train a group of teachers and specialists in Take Flight, an accredited dyslexia intervention program created through the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and will provide all instructional and observational hours to therapists-in-training.

What you’ll learn

How to effectively incorporate the five pillars of reading for the purpose of providing empirically based, multi-sensory, systematic, synthetic, direct, and cumulative reading instruction and intervention.

200 classroom instructional hours from a Qualified Instructor (QI), continued observations from a QI, and a minimum of 700 practicum hours working with children with reading disabilities in an accredited structured literacy program.

A thorough understanding of Take Flight, an accredited dyslexia intervention program created through the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children

How to pursue certification as an Academic Language Therapist (CALT)

Accurate identification of the characteristics of dyslexia at all ages and classroom strategies or techniques used for students with dyslexia

Participants must hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in order to apply for the course. Graduates of the Academic Language Therapy Training program who hold a master's degree in any area or concentration are eligible to sit for the Alliance for Accreditation and Certification of Structured Language Education certification exam at the therapy level.

$1,000.00

An initial deposit of $1000 will be required upon registration; any remaining tuition is to be paid by May 1, 2024. Payment plans available upon request.
